Rules for Chamber-music playing for Violist

1. Before starting to play, you should tune carefully. From then on it´s alright to play out of tune for the entire evening.
2. If you do not succeed in tuning to the right pitch, it is the fault of your instrument´s particular timbre.
3. You should all play the same piece.
4. Keep calm: it´s always the others who have the melody and the solo parts.
5. If you make a mistake, cast a disapproving look at one of the other players.
6. Stop at every repeat sign and discuss in detail whether to repeat or not.
7. Turn your pages with care. The fourth page seldom works as a continuation of the first.
8. If you lose time in turning your pages, play a little faster until you have caught up with the others.
9. If the other players are wrong and you alone are right, you shold try to play wrong as well.
10. If you rush the eight notes and slow down somewhat on the long notes, you can usually manage to come out even at the end.
11. If you miscounted and have lost your place beyond hope, you should stop with the remark, "I think we need to tune again."
12. If a performance must be interrupted on you account, you should explain carefully why you made a mistake. Everyone will listen with great interest.
13. Annotations like p, f, cresc., decresc. as well as any dots or lines above, before, or after a note are without consequence. During a performance, they will frequently be altered. In addition, they are merely embelishments by frustrated publishers whose creative talents have not yet found an outlet of a different kind.
14. When all the others have finished playing, you should not play the notes you still have left over.

kominn miðvikudagur enn á ný. ég tók mér þunglyndis og fýludag í gær og var bara heima að borða nammi og drekka te, alfeg frá því vaknað um hálf tvö og þangað til ég fór að æfa mig kl. 6. reyndar átti ég nú að fara í Tónheyrn I hjá henni Hildigunni Rúnarsdóttur, en hún var veik. ég held hún hafi líka verið í þunglyndis og fýlu skapi eins og ég.

svo vaknaði ég bara og fór á fætur í morgun, FYRIR HÁDEGI og fór að æfa mig. ég held svei mér þá, að þetta sé allt að koma.
